To Japan With Love: Devastation in Japan

The Aftermath of the Tsunami which has destroyed many lives (Photo:Herald Sun)

Not long after the Quiksilver Pro concluded on the Gold Coast, not far from home a huge tsunami washed through the northern coast of Japan and obliterated everything in its path. Without much warning many homes and people were swallowed up in the massive wave. Lize and I had just visited Japan during our Christmas break. To have experienced the beauty of this place and its people and then to see these images on the TV has been shocking. There have been many disasters around the globe this year (Flooding here in Australia, Earthquake in Christ Church and Tsunami in Japan) I can't help but feel hopeless in these situations. However we can pray and we can give. I would like to encourage you to give in this time of need to the tsunami victims.

No words can describe (Photo: google images)

Christian Surfers International shared this recently:
“Food is running low, people are stockpiling petrol and the threat of nuclear contamination is our biggest fear. Even as far away as Tokyo there is some panic. We found a lady who owned a car sale yard who donated some petrol, so I am about to drive a truck with food and water north 6 hours to the exclusion zone. There we will drop it off at a local church for distribution.”

So said David Levy (Christian Surfers Japan Coordinator) to me in a call at 6.30pm Wednesday 16th. Incredibly, all CS Japan members have checked in ok, including one who was surfing and got sucked out to sea before the tsunami!
David says do not attempt to fly over (no way to get you anywhere) nor mail supplies, he will have more information soon. Right now he says they need cash to buy food and they are joining in the combined churches CRASH relief program that is using churches as distribution points.
CSI is seeking to mobilise global support for Dave in Japan. Every cent is guaranteed to make it to dave, no admin fees. They have already spent over $2000 of their own money, so desperate is the need.
Future clean up and support teams can potentially come over in the coming weeks and special needs will be distributed as Dave and the CRASH team notify us. If you are particularly interested in forming a Japan relief team, or want to provide needed resources as they come to light contact info@christiansurfers.net and we will keep you informed.
Donate via your national body (if some tax benefit), US doners can contact Cal Fisher cal@christiansurfers.net, all other donations via CSI website http://www.christiansurfers.net/Donate.aspx

God bless you
