Slater Winner Hurley Pro Trestles 2010 |
I recently attended stop 6 on the ASP World Tour, The Hurley Pro at Trestles Southern California. This is the highest paying contest on the Tour with $105 000 for first place. The contest was a huge success with near perfect waves at Lowers and some of the best surfing seen with the highly anticipated 36 man format. Kelly Slater carved his way to victory over Aussie underdog Bede Durbridge. Kelly now sits in the number one spot on the ratings as the surfers prepare themselves for the next stop in France.
I spent most of my time down at the contest site working with the surfers and catching up with them on a daily basis. I stayed with the Kudla family who were very welcoming and hospitable. George Hulse also attended the contest as the regional chaplain, we prayed over the event together and God presented some great opportunities for us to show His love and character amongst the staff and surfers.
Slater aged 38, number 1 in the world and going for his 10th World Title |
Unfortunately I won’t be attending the Quiksilver Pro in Hossegor France this year as I will be home to spend some much needed time with my wife before Portugal in October.
